A room on the Japanese Super Metroid developer's map appears to be missing in the North American version. There is one room in the Super Metroid developers’ map (which is the Japanese version of the game) which does not have an equivalent in the North American version (as seen below). So there may be some wisdom to Nintendo of America’s hesitation in providing this map to game counselors. Nintendo of America’s upper management thumbed down on providing copies of this map for Game Player Counselors. The localized release of Super Metroid for the North American market had some modifications made to it (although, interestingly enough, the NA cartridge had to option to choose Japanese text).
